Lead Administrators/Coach: Jared Field (field.jared@gmail.com, 810-241-8362) and Marcellus C. Miller (midmichiganlakers@gmail.com, 810-965-4417)

Marcellus C. Miller, now in his 12th season with MML, coached MML’s two most successful teams in the inaugural 2007 year and 2012. The most recent team was led by JD Tisdale (Swartz Creek), Matt Falls (Carsonville-Port Sanilac), Markell Lucas (Beecher), Cullen Turczyn (Lapeer West) and Zeshawn Jones-Parker (Lapeer West). Miller has coached in the Flint-area since the age of 14, including 5 years each as the head assistant at Flint Central (girls) and Flint Northern (boys).  He also works full-time as an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist with Acument Global Technologies. Coach Miller finished both his BBA (Maize and Blue Award Recipient) and MBA at the University of Michigan in Flint with honors specializing in Operations Management and Organizational Leadership respectively.  He also is an administrator and the youth minister at Kingdom of Heaven Ministries of Flint (Dr. Lonnie W. Brown, Pastor).  He is, in addition, an author of a published book of poetry entitled, “Four Seasons of Verse: the Right Words at the Right Times” and believes as much in coaching in life as he does on the court in the game he loves.

Alumni coaches:

Coach Andy is now in his 4th year coaching in the MML program, but this is not his first experience on the bench.  He has coached youth basketball in some form for 5 years. Coach Andy has been married for 22 years to his wonderful wife Anita.  Together, they have two boys, ages 15 and 17 (Austin and Alec).  Austin was a two-year member of MML and Alec is just beginning his career in the program.  Andy graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BSN from the University of Michigan-Flint in 1997 and has worked in the Flint/Saginaw area his entire career specializing in ER/Trauma and ICU nursing.  Most recently, he decided to take an administrative track and is the Program Manager for the Detroit Acute North Division of Fresenius Dialysis Company.  He has volunteered with the youth at his church for the last 20 years and has a passion to see young people succeed in life through proper mentorship and following the Lord’s plan for their life. Coach Andy counts himself as honored to have an opportunity to play the smallest role in these young men’s lives and teach them much more than basketball.

Coach Tucker is in his third year with MML as head coach, but has worked with Coach Miller before at Flint Central High School and Flint Northern High School where they coached multiple division 1 athletes on both the mens’ and womens’ side of the game.  Before that he coached the likes of Jaquan Hart Sr. on the travel basketball scene as well.  Coach Tuck is a retired decorated Flint police officer, serving his community in that role proudly and faithfully.  Affectionately known as “Tuck”, he still has a passion for the game and more importantly a passion for seeing young people succeed.  He now work with the Flint Job Corps, aiding in that endeavor.  He has been married to his lovely wife Sheila for 26 years and together have a set of 20-year-old college students that happen to also be triplets (Thomas, Anthony, and Alona)!

Coach Cam is in his 2nd season with MML as an assistant, helping the 2017 U17 team to a very successful season alongside Coach Andy.  He’s previously worked at Flint Northern HS as an assistant under Coach Garner Pleasant.  He has also had experience coaching with P.A.L., Gametime Elite, and 1Nation.  He has worked individually with various HS and college athletes in training sessions.  Currently, Coach Cam is a CNC Machinist and spends much of his time away from work guiding his two sons (Dominick and CJ) through their stages of life.  He enjoys helping young men earn scholarships to play in college as well as mentoring them through life.
